Fantastic flavours-lovely meal every time
Food was really great, staff I met were also really friendly. First time I used Jay's I made my order online which told me my meal would be ready for collection in 25 mins if there was a problem they would call me. I turned up 30 mins later to find queue to the door. Some were queueing to order food, some were queueing for a table in fact a couple behind me left after 20 mins to go for a meal at an Indian in Trowbridge. Finally it was my turn. My order was found and paid for I then waited a further 25 minutes before food arrived in fact it all arrived in order of customers through the till. So people who ordered in person while I was queueing behind them (I had ordered at least 30mins before them) walked out with food before me? What is the point of ordering online if you have to collect (no delivery at this time). Several people were very upset as I guess I was too. To collect a takeaway on an evening shouldn't take over an hour especially when the order was taken half hour before. The staff as I say would smile but obviously could do nothing to speed up the process. All this queueing at the bar/till of what was a very busy restaurant!! Food was great but think you should focus on the restaurant before or have a separate entrance for takeaways but only if you can promise the 25 min turnaround This was obviously a very busy Saturday evening but chap at till was taking new orders over the counter and more unbelievably over the phone when it seemed they were at max In the kitchen already. Would go again but maybe have a backup if I see a queue to the door again.
My takeaway was nearly 45 minutes late. That wouldn't have mattered if I'd got the promised text so that I could have spent that time at home with my visitors instead of standing around in a busy restaurant. When I finally got home, I found I had something missing and had to drive back to fetch it. No good phoning as the phone wasn't answered once during the time I waited. On the plus side, the food was good and staff polite and friendly.
Food was ready for when we collected, we did not have to wait. We were 40p short when we paid but they were more than happy to accept this. Food was lovely and great quality. Could of been slightly hotter but wasn't an issue. Nothing negative to say. This was the first time trying Jay's Kitchen after always using jhalmuri but after being spoken to very rudely on the phone by jhalmuri, we will not be going back.
